Dior and Yayoi Kusama Collaboration

Goal of Project:

The goal of this project is to analysis the brand comprehensively, to understand the style, marketing and target audience of the brand. Use these informations and strategies to find a brand or an artist align with the client, to create a collraboration campign for the brand.

Process:

  • Marketing strategy and analysis: analysis the brand and artist, to provide marketing strategies to help client to attract more audiences from different age segments

  • Marketing plan and collaboration plan: To understand the brand well, set a plan for our new collaboration, and set the marketing plan for our collaboration to attract more audience from our target auidences.

  • Critical thinking; To come up interesting and creative plan and proposal for the collaboration.

Outcomes:

  • Competitors analysis- I went to some of the competitor’s store and analysising them more comprehensively.

Summary of this project:

This project was a project from my Core 2 course, and we continued working on this project throughout whole semester. I choose Dior as my client, to create a new collaboration proposal for them. During the project, I conducted extensive research on Dior, including its history, brand style, target audience, marketing strategies, and previous collaborations with other brands and artists.

I wanted to make this collaboration unique and exciting, so I decided to collaborate with an artist whose style is totally different with Dior’s aesthetic. I chose Yayoi Kusama to work with, whose special and unique work would bring a fresh and interesting dynamic to the collaboration. I feel like the elegant style of Dior and the nifty and colorful style of Yayoi Kusama will definelly create something surprise and attractive.

I lunched out three strategic recommendations for our collaboration in my final delivery. There are..

  1. Pop-up Stores : To hold Pop-up stores for our new collaboration in some major cities, with a mini exhibition for our collaboration, offering limited editions products from collaboration and customization for our customers.

  2. Video Campaign: Invite customers who purchase items from our new collaboration to be the models for video advertising campaign, to enhance costomer’s engagement with the brand.

  3. Magazine and Social Media Campaigns: Magazine for our audiences from upper middle class and social media as a channel to attract more young customer.
